Veterans will know this already. Newcomers will not. Takes into account the alchemist's fall. Copied verbatim from the rulebook:
The Planet Crusa, of the Maginate galaxy – this is the location of our story. To be even more specific, Crusa’s main continent Erivale. A land that is called home by six mystical races (and one very mundane one). A land of plenty, where science never developed – where instead religion and magic prospered and grew. A land forever locked in the dark ages. A place populated by the honest Dwarves, the patriarchal Elves, the energetic Gnomes, the thrifty Halflings, the almost legendary Selvie, the mysterious Jackals and the average Humans.
It’s creation? Oh, that is a very debated topic:
The Elves believe the world was created by the patriarch and his bride – and made only for them. Only later did the other races appear.
To the Dwarves – the world was created by mother earth, Gaia herself as a place to love, with peoples to cherish and care for.
The Gnomes tale… well, no Gnome has ever agreed on one tale, and the more popular ones are too unbelievable to tell.
The Halflings talk of a bet between the gods – a bet which Gaia lost.
The Humans have yet to form a tale… they are still too young for such things.
The Selvie once believed the world was birthed by the moon-mother, Selvia who watches from above, but have deterred to telling the creation myths of all the races.
The truth, only known to a select few trusted with it, is this: The King of Dragons and the Guardian of Purity, master of all elements combined their powers to create the land itself – followed by it’s inhabitants and creatures. They then created the Elves and Selvie, followed with the ancestors of the Dwarves and Gnomes a hundred years later. The two races evolved around three hundred years later, the gnomes lagging a few years behind the dwarves. A couple of hundred years later, the Halflings seemed to appear out of nowhere. A mysterious mutation in them finally bore fruit a thousand years later – the Humans. Finally, created a few years before the current time, the mysterious Jackals.
A land which experienced relative peace through out most of it’s history – with one or two bloody conflicts marring an otherwise beautiful span. The first – The Dwarven civil war, fought among the founders of the three great clans and their large armies, resolved only with some smart thinking by the gnomes – an event that was to become their election system for all time.
The second conflict – sparked by an “innocent” Elven prank, The Elven-Dwarven Wars (more commonly remembered as “The Wine River Wars”), a series of wars which claimed hundred’s of thousand’s of lives during it’s two hundred year span. Wars which destroyed the Gnomish kingdom far too many times, and would be going on today if not for the Gnome’s intelligence again – a magical treaty which ended the foolish struggle. A statue stands to this day in the Gnomes’, Dwarves’, and Elves’ former capitals – bearing one inscription – “This statue commemorates the ending of this land’s bloodiest war – a war lasting from the year 1750 ae to the year 1950 ae. May we never see any conflict on this level ever again”
However, even those days could not prepare anyone for the last fifty five years. The rise of a Human Sorcerer bound only for greatness. The disappearance of a very large piece of land, and the sudden loss of all order. The sudden rise to power of the man known only as the arch-alchemist and his reign of terror thirty years long, as he strengthened his grip on all of Erivale. A failed rebellion only three years ago, followed by almost three years lost at sea, finally ending upon the landing of a strange and unknown island.
From their new home on the island a rebellion was formed. Slowly their numbers rose, and with it the strength and power they held. Although a great number were lost in the struggle, the alchemist was ultimately slaughtered in his own castle. His reign of terror has come to an end, or so the rebellion thought. Without the alchemist to lead them, his followers and troops run rampant across Erivale, bringing chaos and destruction and threatening to plunge Erivale into another dark age of terror.
WCC chapter addendum:
Seeking to find a safe retreat isolated from where a majority of the Alchemist's terrorists were scouting, a secret - yet large in size - base was established deep in the heart of Erivale where survivors could seek refuge and those brave enough could train themselves so one day they could take on the Alchemist's soldiers. Shortly before the Alchemist's fall, the base was raided by his followers and troops, resulting in outright bloodshed as the brave fighters of many racial backgrounds held their ground and attempted to ward off those loyal to the genocidal dictator. The alchemist's fall drew the soldiers back temporarily, but the threat had yet to completely pass. Most of the base was in shambles by the time the bloodshed had passed, and the base's defenses were nonexistent. With the constant threats from the ex-alchemist's untamed soldiers and followers greater than ever, help was sought and received.
You [being the players] have arrived for many reasons - some of you may have come here in hopes of training up and becoming a top notch warrior, others may have come here hoping to seek refuge, your home destroyed by the Alchemist and/or his followers, and some... well... let's just say more nefarious deeds are being concealed under those robes...
NEW PLAYERS @ THE WCC CHAPTER: Selvie and Jackal will be unavailable playable races @ the WCC chapter until I fix the rulebook / temporary website and get the information up for those races. We are relying (for now) on an older edition before those races were in.
